I put a shout out on Twitter last week to see if any local riders were willing to join me on a 100 mile track bike ride (my first century for a year) & got a decent response for our first ever 'Radventure Klub' ride. I kept the route to myself, just revealing the meeting time & place, and in total 7 riders joined me on this sunny day challenge aptly named 'bankholidaytonday'. For many this was their first attempt at a ride of this length, but the route wasn't too testing, and took on some of the most popular local tourist attractions & seaside resorts.
On leaving Bristol we skirted Chew Valley Lake in the early morning sun.
Descending Cheddar Gorge was a must, and a welcome relief after the first climb of the day - Harptree Hill.
The food stops were planned, and the first was Wells after 30 miles, coinciding with the bank holiday fair.
Ed met us after 30 miles & took us down a fun off-road path. Adventure is the name of the game.
Stop 2 was Burnham-On-Sea after 60 miles. Not the best resort in the world, but Toby's stories made up for it.
These boys are riding 1000 miles soon. Their fuel of choice yesterday was hog roast followed by chips.
90 miles down & it was our local haunt Clevedon for a well deserved ice-cream. A guy also offered to squirt us with his Super Soaker, we declined.
Back in Bristol & we'd hit the 105 mile mark. A great achievement for all & great weather for it too. You may have noticed the Das Rad Klub kit here, it's amazing & will be on sale later this month, more to come on that soon!
