Last weekend saw the 4th annual Tunnel Sprints, one of the most celebrated fixed gear races in Bristol. Put on by the infamous Hamilton Wheelers this was sure to be yet another legendary night, as long as the weather held out, and despite a few heavy showers earlier in the day, miraculously the evening stayed dry & 60 racers took part, as well as dozens of spectators. The knockouts rounds were fast & furious, and close to the midnight mark we were down to just 2 guys & 2 girls. The hot favourites proved their worth & 2 times winner Kieran Ellis buried himself to take home the crown for a 3rd year, just ahead of Kieron Ward. In the girls' race Lucy Walker (winner of every race she enters so it seems) was favourite & became the queen of the tunnel once again with a close win over Nancy Davies. It was a cold night, but riders & spectators had a good time, everyone (who stayed to the end) took home a prize, another succesful night in the Bristol & Hamilton Wheelers calendar complete. On to the next one.
